Art galleries Switzerland
Art Galleries Switzerland was founded in 1995 to better represent the interests of gallery owners in the public sphere and in dealings with authorities. In the mean time, AGS has joined the Suisse coalition for cultural diversity, the European umbrella organisation FEAGA and the world trade association CINOA. In 2015, together with the Swiss Association of Dealers in Art & Antiques, the Swiss Art Trading Association and Swiss Fine Art & Antiques Auctioneers Association, it created Swiss Art Market Association – the art market’s umbrella organisation.
It is this large and closely-knit network that enables Art Galleries Switzerland to optimally support the interests of professional gallery owners, especially on a political level. The association takes part in hearings and consultations, has direct contacts to members of parliament and collaborates with the Swiss government (the Department of Culture), as well as semi-public and private organisations, such as Presence Switzerland, Pro Litteris and Pro Helvetia.
